25 May Meet the Community – Nati Monosov
- Who are you? (First and Last Name)
-
- Natanel Monosov, but my friends call me Nati
- What Organization do you Represent? (As it relates to why you’d be getting highlighted in an Esports Newsletter)
- I represent Marquette University Esports.
- Why do you personally believe esports is important, both to our region and in general?
- Esports is important because of its ability to bring people together from all over the planet. Whether it’s the game itself or the communities formed by supporting teams around the world, you can watch hundreds of people support a team and cheer for its success (or cry over their failures). On top of that, though, and especially in our COVID-bogged times, it provides a medium through which people can connect with each other and believe in something. I became president of Marquette at the start of our lockdown and I knew that I had to use our uniquely advantaged position to bring my college’s esports community closer together. With a common golden eagle to rally behind, MU Esports has made sure to keep esports on the tips of people’s tongues. I’m sure we’ll be able to further expand on that now that we’re partnered with MEA!
- What games did you grow up playing and what are you playing the most now?
- Honestly, I didn’t grow up on many video games. I had a Playstation Portable and spent a lot of time on it, but apart from the spinoff versions of Assassin’s Creed, Gran Turismo, and Mortal Kombat, I didn’t have many games of my own. I really got into games by watching my brother, who had a lot more access to games than I did. Through him, I grew up playing (or sitting with him while he played) Resident Evil, the Witcher, and a bunch of other “classics”. Right now, I’m probably playing World of Warcraft and Baldur’s Gate III the most, but I’ve been doing a bunch of variety stuff with a group of friends lately – not really stuck on any game in particular.
- If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- This is an impossible question. It would have to be something like League of Legends or VALORANT where every match is different, but those games can be real tilters sometimes so it might be rough! 🙂
- Where can people find you? (Socials/Twitch/etc)
