27 Mar WEC & WIHSEA Partner to Bridge Highschool & Collegiate Esports Opportunities
March 27, 2025 — Milwaukee, WI – The Wisconsin Esports Conference (WEC) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Wisconsin High School Esports Association (WIHSEA), aimed at creating a more direct pipeline between local high school esports student-athletes and collegiate esports programs across the state.
Through this partnership, high school students participating in WIHSEA competitions will now have the opportunity to indicate their interest in collegiate esports via a short survey created by the WEC. The survey allows students to share which games they are passionate about and whether they are interested in continuing their esports journey at the collegiate level. This information will then be shared with member institutions of the WEC, enabling colleges and universities to connect directly with students who are a strong fit for their programs.
“This is another exciting step in the continued growth of our collegiate esports ecosystem,” said Lewis Smith, Commissioner of the Wisconsin Esports Conference. “Being able to connect directly with interested students within the Wisconsin high school esports community can be a big win—for programs looking to grow and for students looking to take the next step in their esports careers.”
The initiative not only strengthens recruitment pipelines but also reinforces the shared mission of both organizations to expand esports opportunities for students throughout Wisconsin. “Our goal is always to provide opportunities to our student-athletes,” said Mike Dahle, President of WIHSEA. “This connection makes that even simpler and is a great step for growing the strength of the Wisconsin high school and college esports ecosystems.”
The partnership represents a united effort to ensure that Wisconsin remains a leader in structured, supportive, and accessible esports programming from high school through higher education.
