01 Jul Meet the Community – Joe Hanson
Who are you? (First and Last Name)
- Joe Hanson
What Organization do you represent? (As it relates to why you’d be getting highlighted in an Esports Newsletter)
- Madison College
Why do you personally believe esports is important, both to our region and in general?
- Esports is so much more than just the game itself. They teach people how to work together as a team, think critically under pressure, and most importantly, provide a community where life-long friendships, both in-person and online, are formed. The demand for esports opportunities in education will undoubtedly create more economic growth as students pursue careers in related fields.
What games did you grow up playing and what are you playing the most now?
- I grew up playing tons of games in many genres including FPS, racing, RPG, RTS and any dungeon crawler that I could find! The ones that stick out are Unreal Tournament 2K and StarCraft due to the great LAN events that existed way back then. Currently, I’m playing Rocket League and Valorant in what little free time I can spare, but still enjoy playing a variety of games.
If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- This question was way more difficult than it should have been to answer! I would probably choose Skyrim as the last game I ever play due to it not only being open world, but the modding capabilities of the game as well.
Where can people find you? (Socials/Twitch/etc)
